THE REMOVAL GUIDE

Choose the scope
before the shovel.

Complete removal and partial fill-in are different projects. Use these questions to discuss the right approach for your property.

OPTION 01

Complete removal

Ask for a written scope that explains removal of the pool structure, debris disposal, backfill, compaction, and the finished yard. Confirm what is included for surrounding decking, fences, utilities, and landscaping.

Questions for your contractor

  • Which parts of the pool and surrounding concrete will be removed?
  • Where will the debris go, and is hauling included?
  • What fill material and compaction process will be used?
  • What documentation or professional review will my intended future use require?

Removing the structure does not itself establish that the ground is suitable for a new building.

OPTION 02

Partial removal
& fill-in

Some proposed scopes leave portions of the structure below ground. Confirm exactly what remains, how drainage is handled, and whether the method is allowed for your property and intended use.

Questions for your contractor

  • What remains buried, and how is that documented?
  • What drainage and compaction work is included?
  • Are there restrictions on future construction or other uses?
  • Are approvals or disclosures required, and who handles them?

Compare written scopes rather than just the headline prices. The amount of demolition, disposal, and restoration can differ substantially.

PUT YOUR PLANS FIRST

What comes next
matters now.

Tell the contractor whether you want lawn, planting beds, paving, or a future structure. Ask which work is needed to support that goal and which parts of the restoration are included in the estimate.

This guide provides questions to help you plan. Property-specific feasibility, permits, and technical requirements must be confirmed locally.

YOUR NEXT STEP
